Charles Isherwood’s Broadway review of Elf for The New York Times began with the declaration that, “In
some remote corner of Santa’s kingdom up at the North Pole, elves are whistling
show tunes as they work.” It’s with this cheery image that one can expect to
enjoy a theatrical production based on the hit holiday movie which starred Will
Ferrell as a lovable, larger-than-life Buddy.
Onstage, the story finds a natural home (even without Will
Ferrell) when Broadway magic and the spirit of the holiday season combine.
Raised by Santa and his elves, a not-so-little orphan buddy realizes he’s
different than his friends and seeks out his real father, a
Christmas-curmudgeon living in New York City. But there’s no stopping Buddy
from making the holidays memorable for everyone. After all, “The best way to
spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” Come and get wrapped
up in the excitement November 13-18 at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center.
